Lahore Qalandars have continued their tradition of losing their opening fixture of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the 2020 edition of the tournament. This time, it was the turn of Multan Sultans to boss Lahore Qalandars at their home ground.
Winning the toss, Multan invited Lahore to bat first on a slow wicket. After a cautious start, the destructive opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Chris Lynn started flexing their muscles. Lahore lost their first wicket at the score of 59 when Lynn was caught at mid-off by Shan Masood. This sparked a battling as Lahore never recovered from this position.
They lost 8 wickets 62 runs to get reduced to 123 for 8. Skipper Sohail Akhtar’s hitting aided Lahore to get a respectable total of 138 runs. However, it was nowhere near the scored they needed to challenge Multan. In response, the visitors kept going smoothly to record an impressive chase. Contributions from Shan Masood and Rilee Russouw allowed Multan to overpower Lahore’s total inside 17 overs, gaining 2 important points.
