Luke Ronchi shed all doubts cast over his ability to conjure big hits as he demolished Multan Sultans’ bowling attack to set up a dominant eight-wicket win for Islamabad United. Ronchi had failed to put on a prolific show in the game against Quetta Gladiators but he left his past behind to thump a match-winning performance.
Set a challenging target of 165 on the board, Ronchi launched into an attacking mode from the get-go, racing to yet another half-century in the PSL. His glittering record in the T20 competition has now seen him become one of the leading run-getters in PSL history.
Ronchi’s boundary-laden innings saw him hit nine fours and two sixes as he did not let the Multan Sultans bowlers build even an ounce of pressure during their exuberant run-chase. Ronchi’s monstrous hitting peaked in the solitary over bowled by Moeen Ali when the Englishman leaked 19 runs including three boundaries and a six.
