The fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has witnessed the rise of another young batsman as Multan Sultans’ Zeeshan Ashraf struck a terrific half-century against Islamabad United. The 27-year-old battled through the loss of batting partners on the other end to amass a healthy contribution of 50 from 29 deliveries.
Zeeshan, playing just his second game in the glitzy T20 competition, smashed four boundaries and three maximums in his blazing knock as he often took the aerial route with great poise. His innings was a mix of elegant drives and controlled aggression.
Zeeshan’s sublime effort with the bat lifted Multan to a competitive total of 164/8 but his side’s bowlers failed to stifle the breathtaking charge unleashed by Islamabad United’s openers. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s terrific knock, nevertheless, indicates the potential he has.
