For the second time in three games, Quetta Gladiators’ Azam Khan turned up the heat with a glorious innings to lead his team to victory in a nail-biting clash against Karachi Kings. Azam had failed in the previous clash against Peshawar but produced the goods in Karachi on Sunday by racking up a substantial contribution.
The 21-year-old struck four boundaries and two maximums in his rapid innings of 46 from 30 deliveries as Quetta earned their second win of the tournament. A top-order collapse put a lot of pressure on the young shoulders of Azam but he held his cool to nail in pristine slogs that travelled far and wide into the stands.
Despite Azam’s immaculate effort, he could not muster a half-century as he was run-out while wandering down the pitch off the bowling of Mohammad Amir. His sizzling batting, nevertheless, helped him win the player of the match prize.
