The request of Peshawar Zalmi’s president Javed Afridi to give Pakistani citizenship to skipper Darren Sammy was honored by the President Arif Alvi. As a result, the explosive batsman is all set to get the honor on March 23 – a day which is celebrated as Pakistan Day in the country.
Recently, Sammy reacted to this news and said that it is indeed an honor to get the citizenship of Pakistan. However, he cleared that he doesn’t need a passport to love Pakistan. Moreover, Sammy credited all the foreign cricketers who visited Pakistan in the last 3 years for the return of competitive cricket to the country.
He also shared his love for the people of Pakistan who bestowed upon him massive admiration and respect. It is important to note that the 36-year old cricketer was among the foremost cricketers who gave their willingness to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Pakistan. Apart from this, Sammy is confident to give his best in the ongoing edition of the 20-over tournament and thrill the fans of Pakistan.
