Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan took responsibility on his shoulders when his team needed him direly in the game against Lahore Qalandarson Sunday evening. Chasing a big total, Islamabad lost their key batsman Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro within powerplay.
This forced Shadab to come out to bat himself and he did not disappoint in a thriller game. Shadab scored an incredible 52 off just 29 balls- his innings included 3 boundaries and 4 maximums. This was Shadab’s maiden fifty in the Pakistan Super League.
His innings set the stage for United which later went on to win the nail-bitter thriller at the Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore. Shadab’s bowling against Lahore is also worth-mentioning. He took 2 wickets and gave away only 14 runs in his 4 overs and was name man of the match. Shadab’s all-around performance will give him a lot of confidence ahead of the T20I World Cup in Australia.
