The Proteas have named their ODI squad for the 3-match ODI series against Australia starting from 29th February. The squad displays some new faces and some changes from the recently concluded T20I series. South Africa’s former skipper Faf du Plessis, who has not played an ODI game since ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, has been left out again.
The selectors have turned their faces towards 2 new faces including Kyle Verreyenne and Janneman Malan whereas Rassie van der Dussen has been rested for the 50-overs series. The left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj has been recalled into the ODI side.
Quinton de Kock will lead the side into the 3-match ODI series. Quinton has recently over-taken the captaincy role from Faf du Plessis. Though the results have not been really good recently, South Africa bank on the wicket-keeper batsman as a future leader. Quinton de Kock is hopeful that South Africa will do well in the future assignments despite some off-color performances in the recent past.
Squad: Quinton de Kock (captain), Temba Bavuma, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi, Beuran Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Janneman Malan, JJ Smuts, Anrich Nortje, Lutho Sipamla, Keshav Maharaj, Kyle Verreyenne.
