David Warner has returned in the leadership capacity for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Australian opening batsman resigned from the Sunrisers captaincy post in the aftermath of the ball-tampering scandal in 2018 with Kane Williamson taking the reins in his absence.
Warner later made a comeback to the team in the last season but played as a regular member of the team, managing to end the tournament as the competition’s leading run-getter.
"I'm thrilled to be given the captaincy for this coming IPL 2020. I'm extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to lead the team once again,” Warner said in a video message uploaded by the IPL club on Twitter.
"I'd like to thank Kane and Bhuvi for the way you guys led throughout the last couple of years, you guys did an outstanding job. And I'll be leaning on you guys for support and your insight to the game as well,” he added.
