Former Pakistani cricketer and current commentator Ramiz Raja calls for flexibility in the rain rules of T20 format. He feels that the current rules do slight injustice with the crowd, advertisers, and coverage partners. The match between Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars was affected by rain.
The match was reduced to 12 overs per side after the rain stopped, however; Ramiz feels that the match could have go on for a little longer. “Wish T20 rain rules were a bit relaxed. This game here (Lahore vs Peshawar) could have easily been played deep into the evening instead of a 12 over contest as the fans are plugged in for the night. Got to cater to stake holders: fans, advertisers, T.V, and digital”, Ramiz said.
The short-duration match was a display of great entertainment as it was raining sixes and fours in the Rawalpindi cricket stadium. Although it was raining in Pindi, the ground staff did an excellent job and made the ground capable to host the game in front of an electric crowd.
