Pakistan women’s team has been dealt a huge blow in their ongoing T20 World Cup campaign in Australia as skipper Bismah Maroof has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament owing to a communitive fracture to her right thumb.
Bismah endured a deafening blow to her thumb during her side’s 42-run defeat against England in Canberra when she was beaten for pace off the bowling of Katherine Brunt. Her absence has forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to announce Nahida Khan as her replacement.
“Bismah will now travel with the side to Sydney on Saturday, where she will be operated upon by Cricket Australia’s orthopedic surgeon,” the PCB’s press release stated.
Meanwhile, the PCB have appointed opening batter Javeria Khan as the new Pakistan skipper for the remainder off the competition. Pakistan have a good chance of making it to the semi-finals if they triumph in the next two games.
