After curtailing the contest against Lahore Qalandars, rain returned to wash out Peshawar Zalmi’s important fixture against Islamabad United. It was an extremely disappointing sight to see this game getting ruined as a massive turn-out, a high-scoring track and short boundaries were awaiting the clash of two former champions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
As a result, both the teams shared a point each to move to 5 points. However, it was clear that Zalmi and United wanted to play a game and get the valuable 2 points as the final stages of the tournament could see a close finish for the play-offs of the 20-over event.
Peshawar’s journey in PSL 2020 hasn’t been ideal as they lost to Multan and Karachi to lose crucial points. However, bossing Quetta and Lahore meant that they secured two victories from their first-leg of the 20-over competition. Needless to say, the yellow team will have to raise the bar of their game if they aim to finish in top two teams.
