Pakistan is currently staging the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Played across the cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Multan, the 20-over tournament is witnessing some exceptional performances both with bat and ball. Needless to say, the authorities are on hunt to overcome national team’s shortcomings via this T20 carnival.
Speaking on the matter, head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq lauded the quality of the 6-team event. He added that with Asia Cup and T20 World Cup not being far away, it is a great chance for players to take up the vacant spots of the national team. The 45-year old also admitted that there’s a close competition going on between openers and finishers.
While Pakistan returned to winning track against Bangladesh, their T20I show in 2019 was dismal – an event which highlighted many issues of the green team. After getting thumped against Islanders at home, the green team was decimated in Australia. However, it remains to be seen how the boys in green finalize their preparations for the forthcoming T20 events.
