Coming into the fifth season of the highly admired Pakistan Super League (PSL), English wicket-keeper batsman Tom Banton was one of the most sought after players. Peshawar Zalmi took advantage of their early pick in Diamond round to hire the services of the belligerent cricketer.
However, all isn’t well for them as Banton has failed to fire in the tournament. Batting in 5 encounters of Zalmi, the hard-hitter accumulated a total of just 54 runs, averaging less than 11. While his strike-rate is 135, the batting numbers aren’t acceptable at all. It is important to note that 34 of these runs came in a single game against Lahore where he looked at his best.
This dismal show of Banton is hurting the yellow team as Peshawar’s middle-order is getting under pressure all the time. As a result, Peshawar sits on the fifth position of the points table after winning only 2 of their 6 contests. It remains to be seen how Banton fares in the forthcoming fixtures of Zalmi.
