Lahore Qalandars have finally been able to break their winless run with a well-earner victory over defending champions Quetta Gladiators in the Gaddafi Stadium. The Lahore-based franchise’s win was set up a scorching stand between Ben Dunk and Samit Patel, who powered the home side to a daunting total.
While Dunk was the initial aggressor of the two, Samit soon unleashed a boundary-hitting frenzy that completely left the Gladiators bowling lineup shell-shocked. Samit struck nine fours and two maximums in his blazing stay at crease managing to make 71 off 40 deliveries.
His excellence extended into the Gladiators’ run-chase when he snaffled two crucial scalps to dent the opposition’s momentum. He first prised out the wicket of Jason Roy with sharp turn and then got skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed to gift his wicket amidst the climbing asking rate.
