Pakistani opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad recently took a trip down memory lane as he shared a memorable click with the late Abdul Qadir on social media. A young Shehzad is observed to be standing alongside the legendary leg-spinner in the photograph posted by a fan.
Elaborating the details of the picture, the 28-year-old said it was from an Under-12 tape-ball tournament where he was a part of the winnings team. Shehzad also heaped praise on the esteemed status of Abdul Qadir, who ranks amongst the finest spinners to play the game.
Qadir passed away in September last year and Shehzad stated his demise has left him quite saddened. Qadir is credited with mentoring many youngsters and honing the skills of several players. Shehzad is one of the lucky ones, who benefitted from Qadir’s deep understanding of the game.
