Lahore Qalandars failed to sustain the winning momentum as they were silenced by Islamabad United in the 17th game of the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The contest proved to be a one-sided affair as the former champions defeated the worst franchise of the competition by 71 runs.
Winning the toss, Lahore decided to bowl first but their mediocre bowling was smashed left, right and center by the prowess of Islamabad’s batters. Colin Munro starred with the bat by registering an unbeaten innings of 87 runs. Luke Ronchi, Colin Ingram and Asif Ali all supported him well to aid Islamabad in scoring 198 runs.
In response, Lahore looked under pressure right from the start and kept losing wickets after regular intervals. A mediocre batting performance saw the green team running out of gas after scoring 127 runs. Shadab Khan and Zafar Gohar, the two spinners, shared 5 wickets among them to derail the chase of Qalandars. With this victory, Islamabad occupied the second position on the points table.
