In a duration of 48 hours, Lahore Qalandars showed their two sides by registering contrasting performances. While they bossed the defending champions Quetta Gladiators, they weren’t even a match for the quality of Islamabad United. As a result, Lahore was handled their 4th defeat of the 20-over tournament and their play-offs chances continued to diminish.
In front of a large turn-out, Lahore won the toss and decided to bowl first. A wayward bowling display backed by clueless captaincy of Sohail Akhtar allowed Islamabad to muster 198 runs on the board. Colin Munro was found on fire by smashing an unbeaten innings of 87 runs while consuming only 59 balls. Lahore, in response, looked like a house of cards as they kept losing wickets to get defeated by 71 runs.
Reviewing the lackluster display in the Gaddafi Stadium, Twitter was mad at Lahore Qalandars. Fans wanted them to beat Islamabad so that the tournament could get spiced up. While some were found lampooning the management and coaching setup of Lahore, others lashed out at the players. However, they hoped to see Lahore learning from their mistakes and coming back strongly.
