Islamabad United concluded a dominant performance against Lahore Qalandars on Wednesday night when the home team succumbed to United’s bowling attack. Batting first, Islamabad United posted a score 2 short of 200 runs on the board courtesy great knocks from the two Kiwis Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro.
In reply, Lahore Qalandars could not really get going from the start as the Islamabad United’s fast bowlers Dale Steyn and Rumman Raees bowled splendidly with the new ball. In the middle-overs, Lahore’s batting line-up had no answers to the spin-mystery of the United’s.
Zafar Gohar bowled a terrific spell and grabbed 3 wickets. The left-arm spinner gave away only 31 runs in his 4-over quota. Captain Shadab Khan also chipped in with 2 wickets in the middle. Zafar’s miserly spell broke the back-bone of Lahore’s batting line-up and the whole team was bowled out for just 127 runs on the board- giving Islamabad United the biggest margin of victory in the history of PSL by any franchise.
