Mashrafe Mortaza experienced a memorable farewell to his ODI captaincy stint as Bangladesh trounced Zimbabwe by 123 runs in the final game of the three-ODI series. Mashrafe’s farewell gift was spearheaded by an explosive batting effort from Liton Das.
Days after Tamim Iqbal racked up the highest score for a Bangladeshi batsman, Das surpassed his senior teammate’s record to register 178. Das’ ravishing innings was laced with eight sixes and 16 boundaries as he combined with Tamim for a mammoth opening stand spanning 292 runs.
"It is one of my best knocks. I always performed at the domestic level, but there were problems at the international level. My playing style was different. I am working on it, but I am sure that I can do better in the future,” Das later remarked on his 143-ball stay at the crease.
