Mohammad Hafeez, the veteran cricketer of Pakistan, has recently joined an elite club as he became one of the few cricketers to score 6000 runs in T20 cricket. Coming to bat into an important fixture against Karachi, the all-rounder was only 1 run shy of this achievement.
The 39-year old couldn’t have picked a better game to do this as Lahore Qalandars were found making history in front of an electrified crowd of Gaddafi Stadium. Disappointingly, Hafeez failed to fire when the team needed him the most. Chasing a sturdy total of 188 runs, he contributed only 16 runs while wasting 24 precious balls.
However, the prowess of skipper Sohail Akhtar and wicket-keeper batsman Ben Dunk took care of everything as the duo smashed Karachi right, left and center to register Lahore’s 3rd win of the highly valued Pakistan Super League (PSL). It remains to be seen how Qalandars fare in the upcoming contests against Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.
