Chadwick Walton’s blitzkrieg at the Gaddafi Stadium stupefied the hosts as his blistering effort enabled Karachi Kings to rocket towards a challenging total at the end of the first innings. The Caribbean wicketkeeper-batsman had failed to make any substantial contribution thus far in the tournament but made amends with an explosive knock against Lahore Qalandars.
Upping the ante at the right time for Karachi, Walton belted five sixes, unleashing carnage with the bat by punishing the likes of Salman Irshad and Usman Shinwari. The 34-year-old Jamaican’s quick-fire cameo helped Karachi get to 187/5 in their 20 overs.
Walton was finally dismissed on the penultimate delivery of the first innings when he perished for a wonderful 20-ball 45. His scorching knock further puts doubts over Mohammad Rizwan’s participation in the remainder of the tournament in the keeper slot.
