Australia’s head coach Justin Langer is wary of his team’s tight schedule lying ahead. Australia recently concluded a 3-match ODI series against South Africa and now they will head back home to participate in the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand- concluding on 24th March 2020.
Then the senior Aussies’ players will head to participate in the Indian Premier League. Langer feels that it is not possible to give the senior players a rest as each series is tougher than the previous one. "The truth is we've got some weary boys at the moment, particularly our senior players," Langer said.
"They play so much cricket. When you think about what they've done since we started the World Cup, they went straight from the IPL, which is almost a year ago, straight to the World Cup, straight to the Ashes, straight to what has been a golden summer for us until probably these last three one-dayers. We've got some weary boys. We know we've got six more games to play and then they've got to go again.", Langer further added.
Australia rested Mitchell Starc for the 3rd and final ODI game against New Zealand as he wanted to fly back home to watch his wife play in the ICC Women T20 World Cup final while Pat Cummins was also given a relief considering the upcoming ODI game against New Zealand on Friday.
