India crashed to a humiliating defeat in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as Australia stormed to victory by an emphatic margin of 85 runs. Despite finishing as runners-up and failing in their quest to clinch their maiden ICC trophy, tributes poured in from around the nation for the Indian team.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side also received a congratulatory tweet from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly. However, Ganguly’s post mentioned the BCCI secretary Jay Shah and no active cricketer was tagged.
The fact that Ganguly tagged Jay Shah, political bigwig Amit Shah’s son, left the Twitter community baffled, who proceeded to troll the former Indian captain for his careless tweet. Others poked fun at Jay Shah’s connection with the Indian women’s team in Australia.
