Lahore Qalandars once again had an ominous start to their PSL journey as the side lost their opening 3 games of the 5th edition. However, the tables turned significantly and Lahore, with their victory against Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday night, have now completed their 4th win on the trot.
The 4 consecutive wins have opened the gates of the knock-out stages for Lahore Qalandars. Lahore is currently placed at the number 3 position in Pakistan Super League’s points table. With Multan Sultans already qualified, the battle remains between the rest of the 5 teams.
The Qalandars have 2 games remaining before they sign off their group-stage matches quota. Winning one out of the 2 games, will make Lahore strong contenders for the play-offs. If the Qalandars manages to win their both games, and Karachi loses one of their 3 games- then Lahore will be very much on the cards to play Qualifier 1.
On the other hand, defeat in their next two games will open up a stong competition with the rest of the 4 teams and the net run-rate will then come into play. If Lahore manages to qualify for the next round, it will be first time since 2016 that Lahore will play a knock-out game of the Pakistan Super League.
