On back of sturdy performances in the ICC World Test Championship, India came to New Zealand with a plethora of expectations. However, the men in blue were found no match to the quality of hosts as they were knocked down 2-0 in the two-match Test series.
In all the 4 innings, Indian batters struggled against the seam and bounce of Kiwi’s pacers. This obviously attracted backlash as cricket pundits shared massive disappointment on lack of application from the Indian batters.
Recently, Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane became a part of this debate by hitting back at the critics. The elegant batsman believes that people are speaking too much which isn’t right. Discussing the ability of the men in blue to counter the short balls, Rahane said that they all play short balls well so one or two bad games cannot undermine the batting unit. Moreover, he is confident about his team recording a strong comeback in their next red-ball assignment and stretch their supremacy in the global red-ball competition.
