Under the global health emergency due to the spread of COVID-19, the England vs Sri Lanka Test series is postponed until further notice. The series will be rescheduled later on, however, no decision has been made on this so far.
Sri Lankan cricket board pushed for the series to take place behind closed doors but the ECB was in strong favor of full postponement. The affected flight schedules were also taken into consideration while making the decision.
The severity of the virus is not as intense in Sri Lanka as in the United Kingdom; however, the mental health of the players and the staff was given priority as they wanted to reunite with their families. This series postponement is a financial setback for SLC, but with the World Test Championship’s points on stake, the rescheduling is very much on the cards.
