Ahead of the glamorous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has been axed from the commentary panel of the highly valued 20-over tournament. The reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unhappy with Manjrekar’s work which became the reason of his removal.
Important to note that the long standing cricket analyst remained absent from South Africa’s ODI fixture against India, which later was washed-out in Dharamshala. There are no clear reasons of this move by the governing body of the Indian cricket. However, the recent microphone comments of the 54-year old stirred few controversies.
Be it his tussle with the West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard, his on-air exchange with the fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle or his criticism on the Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, all the events attracted a lot of attention. Despite the cricketing world being occupied with outbreak of Corona Virus, the news raised many eyebrows as Manjrekar has been involved in most of the cricketing action including India.
