Asif Ali shot to prominence in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) a couple of years ago when he bludgeoned several delightful innings. He was soon fast-tracked into the Pakistan side but his series of failures pushed him back to obscurity once again.
With Pakistan currently facing a dearth of power-hitters, the fifth edition of the PSL was supposed to be a platform that would lead to Asif’s rejuvenation and he could potentially stage a comeback to the national team.
However, Asif endured a torrid run over the course of the tournament, failing to go past the 20-run mark even once in seven innings. Asif’s last innings in PSL 5 saw him hit the ball straight to the fielder stationed at midwicket and perish for another cheap score. He amassed a paltry sum of 81 runs in seven innings with a highest score of 20 not out.
