The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently took a big decision to omit Sanjay Manjrekar’s name from the commentary panel bilateral series involving India. Manjrekar’s controversial ouster from the BCCI commentary team occurred just before the start of the now-postponed ODI series between India and South Africa.
Reacting to his abrupt exit enforced by the BCCI, Manjrekar penned a dignified note on Twitter, communicating the fact that he respects the decision taken by his employers. The 53-year-old former cricketer hinted that maybe the Indian cricket board was not satisfied with his performance lately.
Manjrekar was involved in a major run-in with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja last year during the World Cup when he described the southpaw as a ‘bits and pieces’ player. Manjrekar copped a lot of criticism for using these words and later was part of another controversy when he insulted Harsha Bhogle on-air amidst a commentary stint in the India-Bangladesh series.
