Before entering into the 5th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lahore Qalandars were at a disadvantaged position as the announced skipper Sohail Akhtar was devoid of top cricket’s experience. Due to this, the franchise representing Lahore was found getting lampooned by many cricket enthusiasts.
The start too was horrible as they lost 3 consecutive games before making an awe-inspiring comeback. Qalandars won 5 of their last 7 matches to finish the league stages 3rd on the points table, making the hard-hitting all-rounder the most successful captain of the history of Lahore Qalandars.
For this reason, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lahore, Sameen Rana was found extending his gratitude and lauding the cricketing abilities of Sohail Akhtar. Calling the 34-year old cricketer a star, he further said that it was Sohail’s skillset which allowed Qalandars to record a grand comeback in the 20-over tournament. Moreover, he is confident to see Lahore shining in the knock-outs of the competition.
