Veteran fast bowler Dale Steyn has been left out of the central contract list released by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The legendary pacer recently made a long-awaited to national colours after a lengthy period of absence owing to his shoulder injury.
The 36-year-old speedster was part of South Africa’s squad during the home T20I assignments against England and Australia, managing to play three games out of the six 20-over fixtures. He had announced his retirement from Test cricket last year in August but has made himself available for the white-ball formats.
Steyn has repeatedly expressed his intentions to represent South Africa in the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia later this year. On the other hand, rookie pacer Beuran Hendricks earned his maiden national contract for the Proteas.
