Hogg in awe of Shaheen’s meteoric rise

Shaheen Afridi, the Pakistani paceman, is counted among the best fast bowlers of the modern day cricket. At the age of 19, the left-armer has garnered admiration from different spheres with sparkling shows. A bowling average of 27.96 in Tests, 21.17 in ODIs and 20.81 in T20Is speaks volume of the bowler who already has 86 International wickets to his name.

Recently, Shaheen’s deluxe rise was hailed by the former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg. The cricketer turned analyst predicted a strong future for Pakistani gun pacer. Hogg added that Shaheen’s ability to be in batsman’s face and eagerness to do well is the most important quality a player can have at the top level. Therefore, he sees all the ingredients in Shaheen to become a future star.

It is important to note that in the currently halted edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Shaheen was among the best bowlers of the tournament. Playing 9 contests of the tourney, Shaheen claimed 13 wickets to end the league stage as the second-highest wicket-taker of the competition. Managing an impressive economy of 7.02, he averaged a shade under 19 which clearly speaks volume of the talent he carries.
