The coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the sporting calendar with several competitions and bilateral series around the globe coming to an abrupt halt and facing postponement. Amidst these troubling times, there is a genuine fear over the potential postponement of the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
Reports suggest that a few of the stakeholders of the showpiece event have proposed to the ICC to consider delaying the T20 World Cup if the travel ban on Australia extends to more than six months. However, it is too early to speculate if the ICC would go down this route as this would bear many losses to the host nation.
If the tournament indeed is subject to cancellation, it will most likely be rescheduled to 2022 given the fact that the next edition of the T20 World Cup will take place in India next year.
