Pakistan’s head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq has urged Umar Akmal to focus on developing his personal character in order to stage a comeback into the national side. The often-controversial Umar Akmal has found himself in trouble once again with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) charging him on two counts of breaching the anti-corruption code.
With Umar set to face a ban ranging from six months to a lifetime suspension, Misbah has told the middle-order batsman that the fate of his career lies in his own hands. Misbah claimed the 29-year-old needed to show better resolve and commitment to high fitness standards if he wants to salvage his career.
"Umar has to decide himself, show discipline and focus on his cricket. He has to take a decision whether he wants to remain like this... He has shown good performances but needs to improve his fitness, discipline and commitment,” the former Pakistan skipper told reporters in a video conference.
