The outbreak of COVID-19 which affected more than 200 countries suspended many activities including cricket. Like other competition, Pakistan Super League (PSL) was halted for which authorities are preparing a plan.
Many suggested to handover the PSL 2020 trophy to Multan Sultans for finishing the league stage as the table toppers. In fact, few officials of Multan demanded it in a meeting of all stakeholders of PSL. However, Ali Tareen has discouraged the notion by calling it unfair to the rest of the other sides.
Discussing the issue on his Twitter handle, the energetic owner said that Multan being consistent in the league stage doesn’t mean that they won the competition. Therefore, he opined that trophies should be won only after proper contests. Moreover, he wants Multan to play more games to enlarge opportunities for local stars of Sultans to shine on a big stage.
As per credible sources, the knock-out stage of the tournament can happen around the home series against Zimbabwe in November. Moreover, the foreign cricketers will be contacted for their availability during the said time.
