Ever since the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team, Pakistan remained deprived of International cricket. However, the country has gradually witnessed the return of International cricket. A full-fledged tour of Sri Lanka, few games against Bangladesh and a successful edition of the high profile Pakistan Super League (PSL) boosted the confidence of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Recently, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PCB expressed confidence in his board’s abilities to host any big International Cricket Council (ICC) event. The 49-year old highlighted the example of the recent cricketing action in Pakistan to provide strength to his argument.
“The fact that we have logistically hosted the entire PSL in Pakistan, and also teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for Test matches, besides other smaller events and series shows that we are fully capable of hosting a big ICC event,” said by Wasim Khan as he reflected on Pakistan’s future as far as hosting International cricket is concerned.
