Waqar Younis is regarded as one of the most lethal pacers to ever play the game. The right-arm speedster formed a formidable bowling partnership with Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram as the two terrorized oppositions with their stupendous abilities for more than a decade.
Currently serving as Pakistan’s bowling coach, Waqar is now dispensing his expertise to the next generation of the country’s fast bowlers. One interesting fact about Waqar that stands out is that he is missing a finger on his right hand, which he lost during a tragic accident. Relating these details recently, Waqar explained graphically what occurred.
“When we were younger, I used to swim in the canals nearby alongside my cousins. We used to climb to the top of the bridge to jump into the canals and you had to pass through certain steel railings to go up. One day, as I was halfway up, my feet just slipped because I was wet so I let my hands lose grip and my little finger was chopped off in the cross-bar. I landed on the roadside and broke three ribs on my left side,” he shared in the interview.
