Umar Akmal's case sent to disciplinary panel

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has referred Umar Akmal’s case to the Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel, Justice (Retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan after the middle-order batsman decided not to contest the corruption charges against him.

Umar was given the option of requesting a hearing before the Anti-Corruption Tribunal but the response submitted by him does not contain any willingness to go down this route. He now awaits the final verdict on the sanction set to be imposed on him.

The often-controversial Umar was suspended by the PCB right before the commencement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) ruling him out of the tournament. The charges laid out against him include failure to disclose corrupt approaches to the PCB immediately on two separate occasions.
