Board of control and cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to shift the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in October-November if the ICC T20I World Cup 2020 gets postponed till next year. ICC is still waiting for a response from Cricket Australia regarding the scheduling of the event.
Amidst the COVID-19 crisis, it is likely that the T20I World Cup might be shifted to next year. On the other hand, BCCI will have a chance to host IPL if the situation improves world-wide.
Moreover, India is also the host of ICC T20 World Cup 2021, but BCCI still has few reservations on it due to the taxation issues. Therefore, it might not be possible to conduct two T20I world cup in one year while BCCI seeks a slot for IPL in the ongoing year. "Heat won't be a factor in those months and given the number of venues we have, it is definitely possible," a BCCI official said in a statement.
