The 2005 Ashes series was one of the best Test series contested till date. Encapsulating a plethora of seesaw moments, the epic encounter provided a non-stop drama. In fact, there were few individual contests as players tried to bring their best game forward to steal the limelight of the show.
It would be hard to forget the magical over of the all-rounder Andrew Flintoff in the last innings of the 2nd Ashes Test when Australia was given a target of 282 runs. After removing Justin Langer on the second ball of the over, Flintoff troubled Ponting and eventually dismissed him to complete a double-wicket maiden.
Recently, former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting reflected back on the duel against the 42-year old cricketer. The veteran of 168 Tests, 375 ODIs and 17 T20Is said that it was the best ever he faced in his career as Flintoff was reversing the ball while clocking 90mph. Ponting also admitted that he had a lot of trouble countering the challenge before he eventually nicked one to the keeper.
