A few days ago, former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar mooted a three-game ODI series between India and Pakistan to raise funds for the COVID-19 victims of both countries. The idea was harshly turned down by the ex-Indian skipper Kapil Dev who urged Pakistan to focus on their own issues.
Recently, the iconic all-rounder Shahid Afridi entered this debate as he rooted for his former colleague’s suggestion by disapproving Kapil’s comments. The 40-year old cricketer was unable to locate wisdom behind the criticism of Kapil on Shoaib Akhtar. Moreover, he highlighted the damage Coronavirus has caused to both the countries and urged everyone to stay united against the mass outbreak of this deadly disease.
“I don’t know why would you go against the suggestion of Shoaib Akhtar. It is a laudable idea that could help the people on both sides of the border. We need to know that Coronavirus is a common enemy and joining hands against it won’t harm anyone,” said the veteran of 27 Tests, 398 ODIs and 99 T20Is.
