Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has revealed an interesting incident involving West Indies’ legend Brian Lara and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria in 2006. Talking about the drawn Test between the two sides in Multan, Inzamam mentioned how Kaneria was taken to the cleaners owing to Lara’s blistering strokeplay.
Lara amassed a terrific double century in the encounter including a dazzling exhibition of power-hitting when he accumulated 26 runs from Kaneria’s over. Inzamam said he had asked the leggie to tease Lara but the plan immediately backfired as the southpaw then launched the spinner for three sixes in a row.
"Danish Kaneria bowled a googly, which he [Brain Lara] played back to the bowler while coming out of his crease. At that moment, Danish said ‘well played Brian’, which prompted Lara into saying ‘okay sir’. But the next three balls were all dispatched over the boundary," Inzamam said in the video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
