India’s cricket analyst Aakash Chopra feels that the chances of MS Dhoni playing in the ICC T20 World Cup are very bleak. He said that Dhoni might have played his last game for India when he stepped on to the field against New Zealand in the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
“Dhoni has not told anyone anything yet. He hasn’t called it a day and might play in the IPL. But I feel he played his last game (for India) in the 2019 World Cup. He hasn’t been dropped, he hasn’t made himself available and mostly won’t play for India again,” he said.
With uncertainty hovering over IPL, there is a very less chance that Dhoni will make a comeback in the national side before the T20I World Cup in Australia. Moreover, Aakash feels that the involvement of Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, or Ravi Shastri can be the only way to bring me Dhoni in the T20I side.
“He won’t play again unless someone like Sourav (Ganguly), Virat Kohli or Ravi Shastri asks him to play in the World T20. I feel he’s made up his mind that he doesn’t need a farewell match. He’s someone who will go away without making noise,” the 42-year-old said.
