With the uncertainty looming over the Indian Premier League, the chances of MS Dhoni’s comeback in the national side looks ominous. India has settled keepers in name of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant and Dhoni’s selection in the team will be solely based on IPL if it takes place.
Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has also opened up about India’s wicket-keeper batsman. Akhtar feels that Dhoni has dragged his career and he should retire with dignity.
"If I would have been in his place, I would have hung up my boots. I could have played shorter formats for three-four years, but I left (after the 2011 WC) as I wasn't into the game 100 percent. So why to drag?" he asked.
The Rawalpindi Express has also requested the Indian team to give Dhoni a proper send-off. The fast bowler further added that Dhoni should have ideally retired after the semi-final against India or played just another farewell series.
