Former Indian player VVS Laxman has also opened up against the concept of 4-day Test matches. The veteran cricketer feels that reducing the 4-day Test matches to 5-day Test matches won’t produce beneficial results.
"I am not really a fan of this four-day Test cricket, five days fits perfect because it gets more results and reducing it the four days will not achieve the desired results according to me," Laxman said.
Recently, ICC proposed 4-day Test matches instead of 5-day Test matches, however, it has received backlash from many former cricketers. The ICC was scheduled to have a meeting to talk about the future of Test matches. The meeting was postponed due to the COVID-19 threat.
Moreover, the veteran cricketer also talked about eliminating the concept of toss from Test cricket. "Another point aspect is the toss, especially during the overseas tour the captain from the visiting side gets to decide what he wants to choose because we want to see teams traveling and winning matches on away turf which makes it more interesting for spectators," he added.
