Basit Ali accuses Imran Khan of removing Miandad from team

Basit Ali has accused the former Pakistani captain and the current Prime Minister Imran Khan for axing Javed Miandad from the Pakistan cricket team back in 1993. Basit Ali said that Wasim Akram was captain of the team at that time but it was the orders of Imran Khan which removed Miandad from the team.

“There was a conspiracy to remove Javed Miandad from the team (around 1993). That’s why I was being compared with him. Honestly, I was not even one percent of what Miandad was. I used to bat at number 4 and when Miandad was removed, they shifted me to number 6. At number 4, I used to average 55 and when they shifted me to 6, my performance went down. They knew that at that position, I would hardly ever get to bat. They gave me slow poison,” Basit told a news network.

Moreover, Basit said that Javed Miandad requested the management to give him a place in the 1996 World Cup as he wanted to finish his career with another appearance in the mega-event. After Miandad’s name was not initially in the 199 World Cup squad, Basit revealed that he sacrificed his place for Javed Miandad as he respected the former Pakistani batsman.
