The Pakistan Cricket Board and Emirates Cricket Board are planning to bid for the 5 major ICC events in the window of 2023 to 2031. PCB and ECB will bid for at least 5 tournaments in a joint collaboration with the hope of winning one of these. ICC’s meeting was in line to talk about the hosting of these events, however, with COVID-19 pandemic the meeting was postponed.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani said in a statement that they might not get the rights to over 2 tournaments. Therefore, he has started talking to other boards such as Emirates for joint collaboration. With the security situation improving in the country and successful staging of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Mani is optimistic that Pakistan will host an ICC event in the window of 2023-2031.
Moreover, Mani also revealed that the presence of BIG 3 (India, England, and Australia) acquired most of the rights of the ICC events in the past. But things will change this time around as ICC earns most of its revenue from the South Asian region including Pakistan.
