Ricky Ponting reigns as one of the most successful captains to ever grace the game of cricket. He led a group of individual stars and converted the Australian unit into an invincible side during his leadership tenure.
Apart from his extremely impressive win/loss ratio, Ponting’s aggression on the field was also unparalleled as he often engaged in verbal banter with the opposition. One such instance was described by Mohammad Amir and Shan Masood in a recent Instagram live session as they looked upon their encounter against Australia back in 2010.
In the match that took place at the iconic venue of Lord’s, Ponting had a go at debutant Umar Amin by making the youngster nervous about his attire right when he arrived at the crease.
“When Umar Amin went to bat in that match, his shirt was not tucked in. So, when he was taking his batting guard, Ponting came up to him and asked him to tuck in his shirt because he was not playing in his backyard,” Shan stated. “He scared the poor guy before he could bat,” Amir said in response.
