The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that they won’t shy away from prolonging the length of the ICC World Test Championship. Started back in August 2019, WTC is supposed to continue till June 2021. However, with the current pandemic, all of the Test series are currently suspended.
Under this situation, ICC is monitoring the situation very carefully. The officials said that the countries should prioritize their internal affairs. Dealing with the situation collectively will help the cause as per officials.
“Everyone will need to rework their own internal issues first. Nothing can effectively be solved until everyone puts their heads together, i.e. all the boards. This pandemic will seriously test the ICC and its leadership especially given its string of decisions over the last 3-4 years,” the official said.
Recently, England called off their Test tour of Sri Lanka, while Australia vs Bangladesh series also got postponed. It is expected that the Test series between England and West Indies will also be rescheduled amidst the ongoing crisis.
