The rapidly deteriorating coronavirus situation has ceased to relent in its spread with the number of infected patients exponentially increasing around the world. Pakistan and India are also battling the pandemic with their respective resources. Meanwhile, former speedster Shoaib Akhtar has suggested organizing a charity series between the two nations in Dubai.
Akhtar’s quirky idea in this time of crisis has not gone down well with several members of the cricket fraternity with Harbhajan Singh also opining that such a series of sporting contests was not the need of the hour. The off-spinner pointed out that funds could be generated by different means and not just through cricket.
“See cricket is the last thing on my mind at the moment. I am not even thinking about it. There are other ways to raise funds. It is not necessary to hold a cricket match. I don’t think anyone should think about sports and cricket at this hour. These are small things. Lives are at stake…understand that,” Harbhajan told an Indian newspaper.
